The Jefferson Park Women's Golf Group was established for the promotion of competitive golf by a private group of women. The club is a not for profit organization and the funds of this club are used for competitive golf, and the promotion of golf and sportsmanship. Medic One is the official club charity.
Jefferson Park Golf Course (external link) provides Seattle residents with 27 holes of golf and was the first municipal golf course in Seattle and the third golf course in King County.
During World War II, the park was used for anti-aircraft defenses and a U.S. Army recreational camp. Parts of the original property became a Veterans Hospital and Asa Mercer Junior High School.
